American Football Player: O.J. Simpson

Born on July 9th, 1947, Orenthal James Simpson was born in California, USA. He achieved fame early in his life for his exemplary football performance.

NFL’s legendary running back of all time, O.J. played mostly for the Buffalo Bills. He has several records and championship titles to his name and retired from football after a knee injury in 1979.

Simpson delved into the acting arena in 1977 and starred in a mini-series called 'Roots'. He also performed in movies like The Naked Gun, No Place to Hide, Towering Inferno, etc.

In 1979, he started his own production company called the Orenthal Productions.

On June 12th, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson was found murdered outside her home (Los Angeles, California) along with her 25-year-old friend Ron Goldman.

O.J. Simpson was charged with the murder of his ex-wife and her friend. After a long trial, he was acquitted. The verdict left the entire nation in shock.

Simpson’s wealth and fame got him his high-profile defense attorneys, who were nicknamed, the ‘Dream Team’.

His defense was led by Johnnie Cochran, who spearheaded his acquittal, convincing the jury that the doubts outweighed the certainty.

O.J. Simpson was finally convicted in 2008 and was sentenced to 33 years imprisonment, for kidnapping, assault, and robbery.

He was caught leading a gang of armed robbers, in an attempted robbery in a Las Vegas hotel and casino in 2007.

He was released on parole from Nevada prison in 2017, after a 9 year-no-parole condition.

Although acquitted for the murders, he was still held liable by the civil court and was ordered to pay $33.5 million to the Brown-Goldman families in 1997.

He hasn’t paid any of it and apparently vowed never to pay.

Since he wasn’t welcome to stay in Florida by the State Department, he chose to stay in Las Vegas. There he leads a life of luxury and enjoys the benefits of his untouchable pension fund.
