5 Most Effective Golf Tips for Women

Matt Thompson
More and more women are taking up the game of golf. To be more specific, 67% of new members of the golfing community are women. So, it’s only natural for me to talk about the most effective golf tips for women. So, for those of you who have just started or want to improve your game, you might want to keep reading.

1. Bend Your Hips

This one works as one of the best golf tips for beginners too. Because it’s not just women beginners but men too tend to bend at the knees. Instead of tilting the body at the hips. When you do the former, you’re messing with your posture. And also ruining the swing power.
But when you bend at your hips, you’re creating a proper athletic stance. One that pushes the shoulder blades and rears back. Therefore, enhancing balance and making space for your swing. Bending at your knees is just going to force the golf club into performing the up-down action. But what you need to do is produce a circular movement around your body.

2. Correct Your Grip

All the best women’s golf swing sequences begin with a proper grip. The grip is the only way your hands come in contact with your club. So it starts off by letting your arms and hands hang naturally and loosely. Place the club in the left hand. Keep in mind that its clubface should be square to the target line.
Don’t hold the golf club in your palm. Rather it should lie in your fingers. Can you now see your knuckles of the index and left middle fingers? If yes, then it’s time to wrap the right hand around your club. Place the pad on top of the left thumb.
There’ll be 2 Vs between your thumb and index finger at this point. These 2 Vs on each hand are supposed to slightly point inside the right shoulder.

3. Swing Through the Golf Ball

When I say swing through, I don’t mean hit the ball powerfully or crisply. What I mean instead is keep your swing fluid and relaxed. Take all the anxiety and tension away from hitting the golf ball. Rather consider the shot as a practice one.
Your approach should be calm and relaxed as if you’re just practicing the swing movement. Once you develop this mental shift, the golf ball is bound to do its job. And that is to jump off with accuracy and velocity.

4. Sweep the Golf Ball

This one is an extension of swinging through the golf ball. I have listed it as a separate tip because it’s very important when you’re using a longer golf driver for women. Such as 7-metal, 5-metal, or 3-metal. You can hit these drivers best only by sweeping that clubhead along the grass. In the process, collecting the golf ball of course.
In the case of long irons and mid irons, you have to hit down. This allows the club to make slight contact with the golf ball. But with longer drivers and golf clubs, position the golf ball a little bit forward in your stance. And only think about sweeping it off the ground.

5. Shift Your Weight to the Forward Foot

You can strike the perfect between a good foundation and a natural, fluid movement only when you shift your weight to the forward foot. Only then does the foundation become solid. And you can make way for a swing movement that naturally flows from your backswing to the forward swing completely.
Don’t lock those heels to that ground. This doesn’t allow your body to turn through the golf ball. In golf, it’s known as hanging back.
When reaching the end of the swing, the thighs finish close to one another. Another quick check is to notice a decent gap between the knees. Your weight is supposed to shift to the forward foot. And this allows the rear foot to rise on your toes.

Conclusion

So these are the most common and effective golf tips for women golfers. Just remember to relax on the golf course. Many beginners, both men, and women forget to do that during gameplay. Don’t focus too much on getting the job done. Just let your swing and other things flow naturally. Think of the round of golf as a practice one.
One more thing, many women golfers end up wearing sports bra and clothing that’s just too tight. So they can keep their breasts flat and out of the way during the swing. Now, this is counterproductive. Because all that tightness is only going to cause discomfort. And that, in turn, is bound to mess up your swings.
Stand upright, but not too upright. And keep those shoulders rounded slightly. This way your arms get more space for swaying freely around the chest. This is what you should be doing instead of trying to keep your breasts flat and out of the way. Nevertheless, make sure they’re well supported so as not to restrict mobility.
